Matthew is a Manager at Empire Valuation Consultants, where he has worked since 2011. He is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) of the American Society of Appraisers and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Matthew has prepared numerous valuations for general partner entities receiving hedge fund carried interest (a.k.a., performance allocations or incentive allocations). These valuations are generally prepared for hedge fund managers in relation to estate planning and other corporate planning purposes. He has completed similar valuations related to private equity carried interest.
In addition to alternative asset portfolio valuations, Matthew has prepared valuations for many other types of businesses, including professional sports franchises, the National Basketball Association (NBA), private REITs, wineries, vineyards, breweries, medical and dental practices, farm-to-table restaurants, organic grocery stores, start-up technology companies and many others.
Matthew has significant experience with valuation assignments for authors, musicians, directors, producers and other artists. These valuations primarily relate to literary works, movie and music rights, and were prepared for some of the most recognizable authors and musicians from the 1940s through the current time.
Prior to joining Empire, Matthew worked for KPMG in Chicago, and Reznick, Felder & Silverman (now CohnReznick) in both Baltimore, MD, and Chicago, IL. During his undergraduate years, Matthew captained Penn State’s varsity lacrosse team to their first ever NCAA tournament appearance. In his spare time, he enjoys coaching youth lacrosse, racing in triathlons, traveling with his wife and being involved with his children's activities.
